If you like to take a beer every so often, leave your money at home if you plan to do your consuming in a poker room. I am serious. clean out your handbag, your money belt, and leave all money, bank cards and chequebooks at home. Take whatever cash you intend to spend on beverages, tips and whatever loose change you intend to lose and keep the remainder behind.
Pessimistic? Not at all. Realistic really. You might well discover a win after a boozy night out with your buddies and be fortunate enough to hit a 25 minute roll at a smokin’ craps table. Hang on to that story because it is as brief as it gets if you constantly drink and bet. The 2 just do not mix.
Keeping your money at home is a little dramatic, however, preventative measures for dramatic behavior is proportionate and required. If you wager to succeed, then don’t drink and wager. If you can afford to throw away your money without a second thought, then consume all the no cost booze your stomach can handle, but do not take bank cards and cheques to toss into the mix of going after losses after your drunk as a skunk brain loses everything!
