Be clever, play cunning, and learn how to play craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately one hundred years old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century English game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the birth of the game, however Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s knights played Hazard during a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was acquired from the citadel’s name.
Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when banished by the English, the French relocated down south and discovered sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they eventually became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair. It is said that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is acquired from the name of the losing toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and throughout the nation. A few acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the founder of modern craps. In 1907, Winn developed the modern craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to not win. At another time, he created the boxes for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
