You observe a table with several open spots. Which position should you occupy? That’s a matter of individual choice. Is there a gorgeous man or girl playing by themselves at one end of the table? Which players are smoking? Which appear to be tired? Which seem intoxicated or awful? Pick a spot where you will feel the most at ease.
I prefer betting on the end, right next to the dealer. On the end, I don’t have to worry about players on either side of me. I don’t like betting beside to the stickman because I constantly seem to get in the way of him reaching for the dice or maneuvering the stick.
After competing for a while, you will get a sense for your favorite seat. You do not have a choice when it’s crowded. If you get a lousy spot (for example, an obnoxious player is next to you), simply shift to an additional open spot. If the table is filled, hang out until somebody leaves and take their seat. Be aware of a gambler "coloring up," which is an indication that she’s leaving, and tell the croupier that you wish to take over her position. The dealer will then reserve that spot and not allow a different person to rapidly take the spot. The croupier will gently ask the new individual to switch to the spot that you vacate. Clearly, when you change positions, do not forget to take your chips.
People next to you can affect your feeling and full wagering experience. They can cause it to be fun or horrifying. You might get stuck next to a smoking heavyset player with horrid body odor, or it might be a bevy of heavily drinking hotties spilling out of their halter tops. So, choose your spot wisely.
